Primary Substation, Summer Lane, Birmingham
28 Sep 2025When the existing primary substation beneath an office block in Birmingham needed to be relocated following the sale of the building, a new facility was constructed 250 metres away on Summer Lane. Pascon was appointed to support this major transition, delivering trenching works and installing 300mm Triplex cables between the old and new sites. In addition to cable installation, Pascon designed, manufactured and fitted the bespoke ladder-racking system required to safely support the infrastructure. Overall, approximately 7km of cable was successfully installed and connected to the new 11kV switchboards, enabling the substation to be upgraded to a 60MVA capacity.
